I have tried the web app and the experience is so frustrating that I stop using it completely. The web interface is not compatible with tablets and phones at all. Without the APP, mendeley does not have a good solution for this.

It would be even better if the app could join forces with the notability app, like that you can take pieces of text, images, and notes and create a full document with the important stuff from the paper and the ideas you want to highlight. This is my message for them: Reading papers on a computer is not the most comfortable way, plus annotate them, mark them, highlight them is so much nicer with a tablet. Please fill the survey here as others mentioned: The built-in iOS reader is not that bad actually. As they say Papership basically unsupported and Goodreader makes a habit of charging for each new version and breaking. Until the Zotero iOS apps is released I think this is easiest for now.

But you have to use ZotFile and the best documentation I could find on how to set it up was in the forums And I sync the Zotero PDFs with iCloud and can access them, annotate them etc directly from iPad using the built-in reader and can confirm that it also works. The easiest way to move to Zenodo and keep your library and annotations intact is described on github.

If you export from Mendeley using the "Export PDF(s) with Annotations", though, they aren't "real" PDF annotations, and look like crap, and might not work in many readers. You can keep them either by exporting all your files manually as AZWxMan suggested, or using the Menotexport tool on github. If you like what you hear please let me know, I'd post a doodle / start a slack or something, I am serious about this, pulling the app like this is total bs and damaging, we can take action! And eventually do cool stuff like SemanticScholar integration (I am sure we can talk to AI2 about it, they seem pretty open minded if you add value) We could have few important features, such as ingest Mendely DB for easy transition, use public storage (I pay $200 because I have say 300mb of papers, but say we do DropBox/GD/OD bindings 300mb is peanuts and would be free forever). Truthfully, it shouldn't be too hard to make a mobile app, but app plus the web version not sure. Pros: well, new startup | cons: well, ditto Pros: faster dev if is is successful | cons: someone has to own it (take responsibility / schedule & contract out tasks) Pros: maximum flexibility and durability | cons: may take time to dev (limited resources/spare time)Ģ/ kickstarter type of campaign ~ community driven feature list I could see few ways this could work out:ġ/ fully open source version, community developed and maintained I looked for other options listed here, and none seems to be fitting my needs.
